Unravel Me – book review

Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi

Unravel Me is the second book in the Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi. It’s the book that changes everything…

After Juliette and Adam narrowly escape from Warner and his army, they are now staying with Kenji and his friends at a secret, underground base called Omega Point. Omega Point is a place for gifted people, like Juliette, to seek refuge and learn more about their powers. These people, with the help of their abilities, are planning a rebellion against The Reestablishment. But just when Juliette is starting to fit in and regain control of her life, Warner reappears. And this time he’s more determined than ever to get Juliette back…

But Juliette is stronger now. She’s learning more about how to harness her Energy and building up her physical strength. But most importantly, she’s beginning to realise that her life has meaning beyond being a desired weapon. Maybe she’s not an outcast after all.

Juliette is beginning to understand Warner and what he wants a little more. But when Juliette finds out why Warner can touch her, her world will change forever. But will this be a good thing, or a bad thing? Could trusting Warner lead to the death of all her friends and the ones she trusts?

I absolutely loved how Unravel Me completely changed my opinion of almost every character. I never thought I would say this… but I like Warner now! And I like him so much more now, that I don’t know if I like him or Adam more! If Juliette can’t be with Adam, she should be with Warner. Warner has been through so much in his life and I just think he really needs someone he loves to love him back and forgive him for all the evil things he has done in his life. Admittedly, he did try to kill Adam, and he’s killed hundreds of innocent people, but I think he just need someone to help him change. And I believe Warner can change. All he needs is someone to believe in him. But then again, I felt so sorry for Adam and what he and Juliette discovered in this book. It broke my heart. How cruel can nature be? Life’s just not fair for Juliette. But I really liked how Juliette faced some of her fears in this book and as a result, I admired her much more. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series! I really enjoyed reading Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi and I’d give it a score of 8.5 out of 10.
