Clockwork Prince – book review

Betrayal, secrecy and heartache… Clockwork Prince is the second book in the amazing Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare.

In the supernatural world of Victorian London, Tessa Gray is finally safe with her Shadowhunter friends. But when the Clave plan to replace Charlotte as the head of the London Institute, Tessa becomes in danger of being thrown out onto the streets and becoming easy prey for the Magister who wants to use Tessa’s powers for evil.

Tessa realises that the Magister’s plans to rid the world of Shadowhunters is deeply personal, his hatred a result of long ago tragedy. When Tessa, Will and Jem venture into the Yorkshire countryside in hope of unravelling secrets to the Magister’s past, they discover that the he has been watching their every move. One of their own trusted friends has betrayed them.

Along with all the peril, Tessa is still drawn between Will and Jem, and is unsure of where her heart lies. But when Tessa finds out the truth about one of them, is it too late? Will and Jem, both as close as brothers, both yearn for Tessa to love them and what Tessa chooses will break one of their hearts.

This was another amazing read for me. This series is one of my favourites… it’s so addictive and I didn’t want to put it down! In Clockwork Prince, I became closer with all the characters and I thought I knew who I wanted Tessa to end up with, but my opinion was completely changed at the end of the book. I found many twists in this book yet again, and these shocks made me want to read on. I absolutely loved Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare and I’d give it a score of 9 out of 10.
