Pokémon GO Book Tag

Before we begin, there’s something I have to confess: I don’t actually play Pokémon GO. I know. I KNOW. I’m an abomination. I deserve to be ostracised. But before you all come for me with your pitchforks, let me explain. I LOVE POKÉMON, OKAY? I’ve been playing it since I was old enough to hold a small red Gameboy and when Emerald, Ruby and Sapphire versions had just been released. A few years later, I upgraded to a Nintendo DS and even though I haven’t played it for a little while, Pokémon is still very close to my heart.

The main reason why I haven’t downloaded Pokémon GO is because I honestly think that it’s best experienced on an old brick of technology, like a Gameboy, but also mostly because I’m insanely busy and I know that this would be something I’d get addicted to. I know I’ll eventually cave and download it soon, though! And then my productivity will be gone. And my life. But it’ll be worth it!

Emma Blackery Pokemon GO

Before we get into this, I’d just like to say a massive thank you to my friend Aentee from Read at Midnight for creating this tag! All the amazing graphics are hers, and you should definitely check out her beautiful blog!

Let’s go!

This book was such a big part of my childhood. I have such vivid memories of being tucked into bed each night and being read a chapter of The Magic Faraway Tree. There’s just something so beautiful about the magic of this book that can’t help but draw you into that impossible world.

I only read Hamlet last year for Literature class, but honestly, it’s changed my life. I connected really deeply with the themes in it and absolutely loved having the privilege of writing on it. It’s definitely my favourite Shakespeare play. It also helps that the iconic character of Hamlet is played by people like David Tennant and Benedict Cumberbatch.

I’m so sorry. But this book is everywhere. I can’t log onto Twitter without seeing it in my feed. There are photos of it all over accounts I follow on Instagram. I understand it might be an amazing book, but I swear, if I hear someone raving about it one more time, I think I’ll cry. Maybe I’m just jealous I’m not a part of this fandom, but honestly, some of the fans of these books are so obsessed that they border on terrifying. But let me know if I should reconsider not reading this one!

Definitely Game of Thrones – which is the same reason I haven’t started watching the TV series yet, to be honest! Seven-or-something seasons is kind of daunting to catch up on! But one day I’ll get around to reading and watching it!

Whisper to Me

This one just had to be Whisper to Me. This book is creepy and gripping – and when I put it down for the night, I couldn’t stop wondering what was going to happen! I definitely recommend giving this one a try if you’re a fan of thrillers and books that will refuse to let you sleep until you’ve turned the last page.

Simon and Baz from Carry On! These two are just so cute, and Carry On is one of my absolute favourite books. Gosh, I’m swooning just thinking about them!

Black by Fleur Ferris! I ended up reading this one on a two-hour car journey just because it was addictive! I didn’t want to put it down and it kept me guessing the whole time. I really recommend clearing up your schedule when you want to pick up this one, because you won’t want to be distracted!

City of Bones

The Mortal Instruments! Honestly, I’ll buy every book Cassandra Clare releases. I adore her writing and I could never get sick of reading about Shadowhunters! I’m already excited for the next book in The Dark Artifices series!

A Monster Calls

I decided to pick up A Monster Calls because I heard it was being made into a movie which will be released later this year, and I didn’t expect to love it as much as I did. I wasn’t sure what to expect from a ‘middle-grade’ book, but I’m not ashamed to say that it had me ugly-crying by the end. It was absolutely phenomenal. I can’t wait to see the film!

This gorgeous 10 Year Edition of Looking for Alaska! I’m a massive fan of all of John Green’s books and I wish I had one of these – I only have a regular edition of it. I mean, just look at how aesthetically pleasing the gold and the black is!

Ugh, I have SO MANY! I’ll just make a little list for you…

  • John Green
  • Cassandra Clare
  • Veronica Roth
  • Morgan Matson
  • Huntley Fitzpatrick
  • Marie Lu
  • Amie Kaufman
  • Jay Kristoff
  • Fleur Ferris
  • Rainbow Rowell
  • and so many more! No wonder I’m broke!

JOHN GREEN’S UNTITLED, UNSCHEDULED NEW NOVEL. I keep hearing him talk about it a little on Vlogbrothers and Dear Hank and John and I’m desperate to read it! I have no clue what it’s about or when it’ll be out, but I’m beyond excited!

Okay, so that’s all of the prompts! I had a lot of fun doing this tag, so if it looks like something you’d enjoy doing too, I tag you! I’d love to see your answers!

    • Isn’t it?! Aentee is the best at starting these kind of things! And I KNOW, RIGHT? It seems like the whole world is playing it sometimes! I have a friend who was driving and playing it at the same time (crazy, right?) and then he finally pulled over, got out to chase the Pokemon and then found himself on the edge of a cliff! Talk about a reckless dedication 😱 But yes, Cassie Clare is such an amazing writer and I hope she never stops churning out books! And Whisper to Me was so good too! Quite creepy, which is definitely my kind of thing. Thanks for sharing your thoughts 💕

  3. Such a unique tag idea! I played for the first week or so that the game was out and was forced to delete it for phone storage purposes, and I havent got it back since! Cant tell if Im missing it or enjoying the data Im saving from not playing!
