Hello everyone! In celebration of the release of The Cursed Child tomorrow, I decided it was time to do The Harry Potter Book Tag! While I’m not dedicated enough to go to those early morning bookshop events for The Cursed Child, I’ve been a fan of Harry Potter since I was about 6 years-old. At that stage, I was a little young to read the books, but I watched all of the movies and a few years ago, I finally tackled the books. And in case you were wondering, I classify myself as a Ravenclaw.
First of all, I’d like to thank Shannon from Captivated by Fantasy for tagging me! And all the amazing graphics are hers (I think!), and I really enjoyed reading her answers, so you should definitely check out her blog!
A book that you found interesting but would like to rewrite:
I’d have to choose Concentr8 for this one. I was really intrigued by the synopsis, but I found the writing style complicated and hard to follow, and I didn’t seem to connect with any of the characters. Given the chance, I would happily attempt rewriting this one because I felt like the idea behind it was really interesting.
The first book in a series that got you hooked:
Definitely City of Bones. I know that no everyone’s a fan of shadowhunters, but I just can’t get enough of them! This series was one that I just couldn’t stop reading, and when I had to wait for the next book to be released, it felt like an eternity! It kind of feels that way waiting for the next book in The Dark Artifices series!
A book that you wish you could have right now:
THE UNTITLED NEW JOHN GREEN BOOK! I’m not sure what it’s going to be about or when it’s going to be released, but I’m very excited. As a Nerdfighter who keeps up to date with everything John and Hank Green, I always hear a bit about how John’s writing is coming along in videos or podcasts and it makes me all the more eager. I. Cannot. Wait.
A killer book:
This one! Not only is it a ‘killer book’ in that people who are close with the main character, Black, always seem to die, it’s killer in the fact that it’s completely awesome! This fast-paced thriller is definitely one that should be on your radar. And it’s written by Australia’s very own Fleur Ferris! One of my favourite #LoveOzYA books ever.
A book you find confusing:
I think it’s safe to say that this book is quite confusing – but not in a bad way! I loved how it always had me on the edge of my seat and left me guessing what was going to happen. But until the twist was revealed, it could get a little confusing at times! But that in no way meant I enjoyed it less. We Were Liars has got to be one of my favourite books.
Your spirit animal book:
Like Shannon, my spirit animal book is also Fangirl! I’m sure that it resonates with a lot of readers because the main character loves writing fanfic, she’s a little bit awkward, and she enjoys impromptu dance parties. So if she isn’t my long lost twin, I don’t know who is. And this is just such a gorgeous book too!
A dark, twisted book:
Don’t be fooled by the sweet cover! Whisper to Me is creepy and spine-tingling, and probably the most twisted book I’ve read in quite a while. The protagonist hears voices (well, one voice to be precise), young women start disappearing… and it actually just occurred to me that maybe there’s a rollercoaster on the cover because that’s the kind of journey this book takes you on! I couldn’t take my eyes off the pages.
A book that surprised you in a great way:
The winner for this category has got to be And I Darken! I wasn’t expecting to fall in love with this book in the way that I did because I’m not usually a fan of historical fiction. But this badass, gender-swapped retelling of Vlad the Impaler lived up to the hype and is one I’ve been recommending to everyone I know.
Well, those are all of the prompts! I hope you enjoyed reading my answers and if you want to do The Harry Potter Book Tag, I tag you!
