Hey everyone! A little while ago I was nominated for the Liebster Award by two lovely bloggers – Hashtag Love Books and Addlepates and Book Nerds – thank you both so much for that! Unfortunately I’ve been really busy recently and literally have not had a spare second to do this until now, so I wasn’t ignoring my nomination. I’m honoured, really. So thanks again! I suppose I should get right into answering the questions…
This first set of questions is from Addlepates and Book Nerds:
What’s the worst book you’ve ever read?
Is it bad that I don’t even have to think twice before knowing the answer to this question? I feel terrible naming this book because I know a lot of people really like it and I got it as an ARC, so I feel really rude saying this is the worst book I’ve ever read. But I’m going to say it anyway. Grasshopper Jungle by Andrew Smith. It just really wasn’t for me. You can check out my review here. And just letting you know, I was being generous with my rating…
If you could go to any country in the world, where would you go?
My favourite place in the entire world is London, so I would pick England. I’ve only been there once for about a week and I feel in love with the city and I love everything about Britain. I would love to live there someday.
What is your favourite class at school?
My favourite class at school is Literature. Although my teacher is kind of intense and I feel judged every time I walk into the classroom because he doesn’t think any of us are really good enough to be in his class, I like it. I love reading and analysing books and the class can be very amusing at times.
Other than blogging, what do you like to do in your spare time?
Other than blogging, I love YouTube. I love watching my favourite YouTubers, and I recently started my own YouTube channel called Sarah Dreams. I talk about all sorts of things there. If I had to categorise my channel, I’d put it under both comedy and books. It would mean the world to me if you could check it out by clicking here!
Who is your favourite singer/band?
This is a really hard one for me because I love so many singers and bands and I listen to all different kinds of music. But because I have to pick just one, it would have to be Fall Out Boy. I love their music and I desperately want to go to one of their concerts one day soon.
If you could have any pet, what would you have? It can be mythical if you want!
Unicorn. Seriously, who wouldn’t want to have a unicorn as a pet?
What’s been your favourite blogging moment so far?
I really love talking to all of you and comparing opinions on books we’ve read. I think the best thing about blogging is there are so many other people with similar interests and it’s really easy to get along with people.
What, in your opinion, is your best feature?
I would have to say that my best feature, in my opinion, is my smile. This would have to be because I always want to make other people happy and smiling at someone can make them just that little bit more happy. Smiling at someone who looks sad or even smiling at a stranger could make their day, and I want to be someone who makes other people happy. Making other people happy makes me feel happy too.
If you could change places with a celebrity for a day, who would you be?
I would change places with John Green. Firstly, just because he’s awesome, and secondly, so I could see the Paper Towns movie. I’m practically dying waiting for that!
If you could join a family, mythical or real, who would you join? Don’t worry, you can take your family with you!
I would love to be a part of Cath’s family from Rainbow Rowell’s Fangirl. I think Cath and I would really get along well because we both love writing both fanfics and ordinary fiction.
Now it’s time for my next set of questions from Hashtag Love Books:
Online book shopping or in-store book shopping?
While online is cheaper, I almost always buy my books in-store. I work in a book shop part time, so it’s really hard not to finish a shift without buying a book. Also, I love to feel and smell the book before I buy it. I’m also very particular with my books and I don’t like them to be even the tiniest bit damaged before I buy them.
Who is someone you look up to, in real-life or a fictional character?
There are so many people I look up to, especially fictional characters. If I had to choose one though, it would be Tris from Divergent. I really admire how brave she is and how she is willing to fight for what she believes in. She is also a forgiving person and someone that will give second chances, which I think is the best thing someone can do.
What is your most anticipated book this year?
CARRY ON BY RAINBOW ROWELL. YOU KNOW, THE FANFIC FROM FANGIRL? IS THAT EVEN COMING OUT THIS YEAR? PLEASE TELL ME IT IS. IF YOU CAN’T TELL, I’M MORE THAN A LITTLE BIT EXCITED FOR THAT.
#Dearme What is one piece of advice you would have given to your younger self?
Don’t hold grudges against people and learn to forgive them, because that’s the only way you’ll ever move on with your life.
What is an inspirational quote you live by?
I will be stronger than my sadness. That quote is from one of my favourite books, My Heart and Other Black Holes by Jasmine Warga. Everyone has bad days and everyone had periods in their lives that are hard for them, but we have to push through them and be stronger than the negative emotions we might feel because life is worth it and sometimes we have to smile through the pain and eventually the smile won’t be fake anymore, it will be real.
What is the most thought-provoking book you have ever read?
This one would have to be Delirium by Lauren Oliver. It really made think about what the world would be like if love were considered to be a disease and if no one was allowed to fall in love. I can’t even imagine living in a world like that.
What is the funniest book you have ever read?
Although it doesn’t really sound like a typically funny book, I would pick City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. There are so many hilarious characters in that book and the whole Mortal Instruments series and I love spending time with all of them.
If you had to go in a battle with one other fictional character, who would you choose?
I would go in a battle with Peeta from The Hunger Games because even from the very beginning, I’ve preferred Katniss with Gale. It’s slightly scary admitting that here because I know a lot of people would probably kill me for saying that, but I prefer Gale to Peeta and I always have. So perhaps if I went in a battle with Peeta and I won, Hunger Games-style, Katniss would have no other choice but to be with her one true love – Gale.
“Most important life question” What are you watching on Netflix or on TV right now?
Well, seeing as Australia literally only just got Netflix *sigh, Australia is so far behind with everything* I’ve just finished watching How to Get Away With Murder season one and I loved it so much. I’m really looking forward to the next season!
Which YA book is the most nostalgic for you?
Harry Potter. Harry Potter and nostalgia are just two things that will always be linked for me.
What event or expo do you desperately want to go to?
SAN DIEGO COMIC CON! Why does Australia have to be so far from literally every other country in the world? It takes practically one whole day by plane to get to America. I really hope someone invents teleportation soon.
The questions for the people I nominate:
- What was the last YA contemporary you read?
- What book have you most recently stopped reading before you made it to the end and not bothered to pick it back up again?
- Which book to you connect with the most?
- What book or series do you want to become a movie the most?
- What is the book or series that you’ve read the most times?
- What is the book you’ve cried the most in?
- Do you have any books signed by the author and if so, what books are they?
- Have you ever met any authors?
- In your opinion, what is the most underrated or under-appreciated book or series?
- What’s your thoughts on slightly damaged/visibly read books? Do you like your books to be in pristine condition or do you think books with dog-eared corners or bended spines feel more loved?
- What is the book you’ve been wanting to read for the longest amount of time but haven’t gotten around to reading yet?
Now it’s time for the nominations:
Thanks so much everyone!
