Hush Hush – book review

Hush Hush book

Intriguing, thrilling and captivating… Hush Hush is the first book in its series, written by Becca Fitzpatrick.

Romance has never been important to Nora Grey, an over-achieving teenager with a dream to go to Yale. Her best friend Vee is interested in everything Nora’s not: boys, shopping and drama. Nora has never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how hard Vee pushes them at her. But that changes the day the Nora finds herself sitting next to the mysterious and sexy Patch in biology class…

Nora can’t trust Patch. Once she begins seeing him everywhere and learns that he knows more about her than her best friend does, Nora begins to question whether there is something more sinister underneath Patch’s appealing surface. But as Nora desperately tries to seek answers, it is revealed that the truth is much more unsettling than the way Patch makes her feel.

Nora soon realises she is in the middle of a war between the immortals and those which have fallen. Nora must choose a side… but the wrong side will cost Nora her life.

I absolutely love this book! Hush Hush was definitely one of the best books I’ve read. It was incredibly exciting and funny in parts and a thoroughly mesmerising read. Hush Hush had me glued to the pages. It was painstakingly difficult to find a good place to finish reading for the night and put the book away, and that’s because the whole book was so fast-paced and I always wanted to know what was going to happen. I loved all the characters in this book completely. Firstly, Patch… how do I even begin to describe how perfect Path was? His mysterious, alluring personality made me fall in love with him instantly. I was curious to know more about Patch from the very beginning. He had a dark air about him and I liked how I couldn’t completely trust him all the time. Patch was totally irresistible and I found myself loving him more and more the further the book progressed. He always had clever and amusing things to say and I enjoyed reading the interaction between him and Nora. From the start of the book, I noticed that Nora and Patch were complete opposites. Nora was a very high achiever and aimed to do the very best possible in all aspects of academic work. When she was made to sit next to the arrogant and seemingly unmotivated Patch in class, I knew this was going to be interesting. Also, I really liked Nora and Vee’s friendship. Everything they did together seemed really natural and I loved their conversations. Although Vee was interested in everything Nora wasn’t, the pair had an unbreakable friendship that was fun and easy to read. The plot to this book was amazing and I loved every minute of reading this book. Hush Hush flowed very smoothly and there wasn’t a dull moment in the entire book. I completely loved reading Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick and I’d give it a score of 9 out of 10. I highly recommend reading this book!

  1. I like hearing that they were opposites! I’m used to couples in books having so much in common or couples that seem like they have absolutely no differences from couples in other books. While romance isn’t really my genre, I’m really happy to hear that it was an interesting pairing and definitely makes the book seem more interesting.
