Frostbite is the second book in the emotional roller coaster Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead.

Rose, trapped in the middle of a forbidden love and an unwanted love, struggles to comprehend the difference between what is right and what her heart desires. But when a near-by Strigoi attack puts St. Vladimir’s on high alert, everything changes.

A totally unexpected visitor at St. Vladimir’s throws Rose into turmoil and this visitor demands more of Rose and challenges her beliefs.

After the staff at St. Vladimir’s decide that their students, who were just about to go on school break, are not safe enough to go home, they decide to send them all to a remote ski resort for their break. But this ski resort only provides them with the illusion of safety.

The Strigoi attacks are getting closer. Rose will do anything to keep her friends safe. But when three of her friends run away to fight back against the Strigoi unprepared and insufficiently trained, Rose has no choice but to go after them to stop them from possibly getting killed. That’s when the unexpected happens. Rose has always done everything in her power to keep her friends and the Moroi safe. Even risk her life. But will it be enough? Will they all live? Must someone be sacrificed to ensure the safety of the others? And when the time comes, will one of their friends betray them? This time, Rose and her heart are in more danger than she could ever imagine…

Like the first Vampire Academy book, I loved Frostbite. This series has kept me interested the whole time and I love every single word I read on every single page. I just can’t stop reading this series! When I finally put down the book at night, I’m left thinking about what will happen. I got really close to the characters during this book and even met some new characters, which was exciting. My favourite part of the book would have to be the end. That part of the book was like an emotional rollercoaster. Seriously. One minute I was happy and felt that everything was going to be okay, then the next, everything changed. I was so pleased with this book. I really love Rose’s funny and intriguing personality and found every step of the way in this book fascinating. I expected this book to be just as great as Vampire Academy and I was not at all let down. I gave Frostbite by Richelle Mead a score of 9 out of 10. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!
